This blog replaces the focus group interview I had originally planned for my dissertation study on teacher talk, teaching philosophy, and effective literacy instruction. Think of the blog as a bulletin board, where I post questions and you post your responses. You may respond to any or all of my posted questions. Besides myself, there are 4 exemplary primary-grade teachers posting to the blog. One teacher in each grade level: kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade.

This study revealed my belief that all students can learn and that the more connections to their lives I can make-the more they will learn. It also showed that the more students participate (talk/interact with each other and with me about a particular topic or activity) the more they learn and they retain more knowledge.
Posting for BA (second grade):
It has given me time to reflect a bit deeper than just the very day analysis. It has given me positive reinforcement and excitement to continue what works and to dare to change what isn't.
